About us...
Established in 2005 African Knights is no ordinary tour company. Owned and operated by Keith Murray (South African/Zimbabwean) with over 14 years overland guiding experience in the budget adventure travel industry, for the past 4 years our speciality has been designing and operating group adventure tours and camping safaris for international students on behalf of Stellenbosch University International Office and their associated organisations... for this we have been awarded an endorsement and recommendation for our services.
African Knights Student Tours & Safaris are also the founders of the African Knights Children’s Safari Project, a non profit organisation committed to to utilising the African wilderness, her people, wildlife, wide open spaces and inherent beauty to assist in the healing, education and social development of disadvantaged children in South Africa.
Financed by the support we receive from Stellenbosch International Office and you... the international student, African Knights use a purpose built overland safari vehicle equipped with tents, bedding and cooking equipment to take groups of children and their care-workers away from the city on 3 day/2 night camping trips into the nearby Cederberg Wilderness Reserve. The emphasis of these outings is not on teambuilding or competition but rather allowing the children (and their care-workers) to relax and experience the tranquillity of the great outdoors. Away from their accustomed city environment, we have found that children are more receptive to sharing, while sitting around the campfire they talk openly about the things that are concerning them; in this fun and exciting atmosphere the work of their counsellors / care workers becomes that much easier.
Loving what we do, our pledge is to continue to offer international students loads of unique, personal and affordable custom made opportunities to explore the awesome natural beauty of southern Africa! From fun filled backpacker road trips exploring the Garden Route... to awesome weekend getaways to Swellendam & Route 62.... to Namibia / Orange River rafting and canoe-trail safaris.... to overland camping, game driving and rafting safaris in the great Kalahari... and everything in between!
